Back to school... training(?).. and SALSA.

So, I am into week two of classes. =P Yucks!

It's actually not going so bad! I am really enjoying my classes.

  • American Indian Studies -really difficult to not get MAD! but very interesting
  • Talking Culture -my linguistics class of the semester. Really really interesting! I love it. Talking abotu language-less people at the moment.
  • Spanish Oral - EVERYTHING is in Spanish. Really scary but will be GREAT for my Spanish.
  • Hispanic texts - all online work with 3 exams per term. I'm still not sure what the aim of the class is. I don't really know what we're learning.
  • Women's Glee Club - I enjoy being able to stretch my vocal chords. I do love to sing!  I am hoping I will meet more people in the class. There's not much time to meet people as we just start forwards and sing. :)
So yeah, classes are going well. I know they'll be hard work but good! I just need to keep on top of them all..

Back to school and busy life is always an adjustment. I think I thought that everything would go straight back to being what it was like before Christmas break. It's not! I have more free time than I did so I get annoyed and try to fill it up as much as possible. I need to 'be content in any and every situation..' I'm working on it now that I've realised my problem. :)

I'm also training for the half marathon in April which I am excited for but kinda scared about. It'll be good but its THIRTEEN miles! :O So, I've been at the gym every day this week but Tuesday trying to get into shape. It's going to take a while as I'm really not a fan of running and am really unfit. But I'll get there. My latest problem is that I have REALLY sore shin splints. :( It really hurts and I don't know whether to give it a rest or wade through the pain. If I rest I'll run out of time.

And then my last bit of this post is about my evening. I went to a salsa class. It was a lot of fun! I found the rhythm and it's always good when the guy can lead. I had a really good time. We did some bachata (not sure how you spell or pronounce it) which was fun. There were two classes; one of salsa and one of bachata and then everyone danced. Some people were fun to dance with and others were awkward. One guy was particularly awkward. He was fine to begin with but then wouldn't leave me alone until I deliberately said I had to go. He taught me to do it better though. The biggest thing I don't like is how close the guys get. In no other area of life is it acceptable for a guy and girl to get THAT close in public. My friend who invited me, Aljona, told me that that's just the way dancers are. And I get that, I just need my space.... esp when their breath stinks!
It was good though and maybe if I do it more I'll get used to it. As long as they're not creeps!

So yeah, good times... More interesting times! And I'm sure this semester is going to have its blessings and challenges! :)
